Hi, I am Denise Flory and I live at 2148 Touche St. in Waterloo
And I just have a few comments. One is on the environment. It was said earlier that the potash would be deposited in a quarry on Dysart rd. and that is at least the one considered now, is that the only quarry they are considering? Also the water table is so low in that area that the houses nearby are unable to put in basements, so it’s quite a great potential for pollution in the environment there.

Mr. Beecher (?)said they had not yet heard from the DNR…I think that’s crucial before a decision is made weather or not we receive this plant.

And one health issue that was not raised has to do with the mercury…and I know the rebuttal will be that we have a newer, more efficient plant coming, but the problem with mercury is that it is heavy metal and once it’s ingested or inhaled it attacks the developing brain tissue, nervous tissue. It’s a neuro toxin. The development of our small children’s development could be compromised because of mercury toxicity. So I’d like you to take this in consideration as well. And please get the facts before you vote. Thank you.
