citizens of the Cedar Valley address the proposal for a coal burning power plant
Waterloo, Iowa
City Council meeting

Group 5

I wished Mr. Milburn would have come to my house when I lived at 1010 Hammond ave. in Waterloo, Iowa, and said: “ hey, Joyce we are going a build a power plant out there, you don’t want to go out there and build! I would like every one of you council people and everyone sitting up there to come and sit on my front porch that I am going to be staring straight at that smokestack. And I’m not going to be alone because all of these people surrounding me are going to look at the same thing. I ask the question:
How many people in this room have the intelligence and the education to understand what Mr. Milburn is presenting to us? I think this is very important because I did talk to one person who had no comprehension whatsoever about what a power plant and coal is all about.
So I think it’s time the Council begin to think about us people. We don’t want to be duped or dumped on.
